Inspiration can come from many places. I am by nature curious and my reading pile reflecting this. It is a tall pile of books and varied in it’s topic matter. Books I have found to be invaluable to the growth of myself as a creative.

I often pick up books about flower design. I read them partly for the beauty. Some times they are photographed by a photographer I admire. Other times it is simply so I can find new ways to capture my garden.

One book I picked up recently and enjoyed was “From Seed to Bloom” by Milli Proust. Milli’s Instgram is a visual feast of beautiful sustainably grown flowers while the photographer for the book, Eva Nemeth, is an artist I admire hugely. As I read through this book I found when Milli started talking about the mechanics of floral arranging there were some great tips for how to compose a photo.

For reference if you happen to have a copy of the book I am referring to a section called The Principles pages 54-55. Yup just two pages but they offer a lot.
