We went away
to see the stars
I am wondering how it is Friday when a minute ago it felt like Sunday. Time is moving on. The first newly emerged yellow crocus confirms this as does the minute or so of extra light that start to book end the days. I think how much the garden will move and change in the coming month and realise that the ridge of winter has been crossed and while future days are not always a guarantee of sunny days, something has shifted.
Or maybe it is me.

We are rocketing along in the car and I am sure that we are speeding. It feels too fast and before I open my mouth to say something I check the speedo. It reads the correct speed for where we are driving. Then why does it feel so fast? I think for a minute and then clock it is because I am relaxed. Like a new level of relaxed. The kind of relaxed that occurs rarely and finds 100 k per hour too fast. It is a delicious feeling and while I don’t want it to end it soon like the crocus will be a reminder of a time and place.

So what caused this state of relaxation? A visit to a place, a tree hut in Kurow where the tv screen popped down from the ceiling and stayed firmly closed for the whole weekend we were away. The reason? Large window views of a sky and mountains and stars that were much more entertaining than any TV should/could ever be. Did I mention there was a Sauna to clear sinus blocked with winter blues and un chill cold bones which was then followed by a bath on the balcony. Submerged in hot water I watched the sky turn so many different colours as the sun sank and stars greeted me. Waking the next day I watched from the comfort of my bed the day wake as stars retreated and the sun hit clouds creating exploding pinks and reds.

It was a gift to self to celebrate a birthday which then itself became a chance to just move slowly, to create and just be. To have time to submerge into nature in such a private and quiet part of the world made you listen deeper and to the surroundings. I had time to pick up the camera and just create some photos for the sake of it. No greater purpose other than trying to get a sense of the place. The epic skies, the changing landscape depending on the light, the moving wind.
It all felt so good and I am so happy to carry the memory of it in my back pocket for another day.
with much love
